TATU: facts about our university
From 1955 to today: history, today's figures, branches and international cooperation.

The university I am studying at is Tashkent University of Information Technologies named after Muhammad al-Khorazmi. I wrote its history and current situation based on official sources.
History
The university was founded in 1955 as the Tashkent Institute of Electrotechnical Communication and for a long time was the only university in Central Asia that trained communication engineers.
On May 30, 2002, by Presidential Decree (PF-3080), it was transformed into Tashkent University of Information Technologies. In 2017, the university was named after the great scientist Muhammad al-Khorazmi - the name is very appropriate if we remember that the word algorithm also comes from this scientist.
By the decision of June 2, 2005, branches were opened in the cities of Karshi, Samarkand, Urganch and Fergana. Later, Nukus and Nurafshan branches were added.
Today's numbers
According to the information provided on the official page of the university: 13 faculties, 62 departments, 23 fields of study, 780 professors (204 of whom have degrees) and 10,242 students (9,858 bachelors, 384 masters) at the main campus.
Including the branches, the number of students is much larger - more than 32 thousand numbers are given in open sources. The numbers may vary from source to source, as some consider only the main campus, some consider the entire system.
International cooperation
The university cooperates with 42 universities, 8 research centers and 12 enterprises in 26 countries. Uzbek-Indian and Uzbek-Korean information technology centers, CISCO regional academy and laboratories of new generation networks established by "Uzbektelecom" work in the campus.
A tip as a student
The university gives a degree, but not work experience. That's why extracurriculars: one real project, a GitHub profile, and early practice if possible are the most valuable investments. Laboratories and academies already exist on campus, it would be a pity not to use them.
